In his early years he worked on stations as a stockman. A quiet but powerful presence within the Utopia movement, Lindsay was among the few male artists working alongside the women who brough this region to international attention. Beginning with the Utopia batik movement in the late 1970s where he was one of the only men involved. He transitioned to acrylic on canvas in the late 1980s, developing a distinct visual language that remained deeply grounded in culture, country and Law.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLindsays's paintings carry the weight of knowledge passed through generations. As a senior Law man, he held the authority to depict important ceremonial themes and stories connected to his country. Lindsay often worked with a restrained yet deeply considered use of colour, allowing the story to sit quietly but firmly within the canvas.
