Raelene was born in Port Augusta in South Australia in 1961. Her family later moved to the small opal mining town of Coober Pedy. It was here growing up in Coober Pedy that her mother taught her to paint. When Raeleen’s father died, the family decided to move to Utopia, her father’s country. She spent many years in the Utopia region painting and refining her dreaming’s including her unique story of the Wirly Winds which are pockets of hot air rising quickly through cool air collecting sand, leaves, and other debris. These rapidly rotating gusts of winds can be destructive.

Raeleen’s iconic Wirly Winds were recently recreated into a 3D light installation for the 2022 Parrtjima – A festival of light in Alice Springs.

She now resides in Alice Springs and continues to paint as well as being a member of the Tangentyere Council research team. Research, by Aboriginal people, to improve and strengthen communities.

Her paintings have been exhibited in galleries nationally and her works are popular amongst art enthusiasts worldwide.

This painting was purchased directly from Raeleen and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
