Brenda is the daughter of the acclaimed artist Pansy Napangardi and the niece to the late Eunice Napangardi who was also an accomplished artist.
She spent her childhood at the settlement of Papunya where she learnt to paint by her close family and extended family.
Her artwork is beautifully detailed depictions of bush tucker dreaming’s which have been passed down.
This particular painting is of the bush raisin, which is a bush tomato that, traditionally, has been left to dry on the bush and then harvested. Bush raisins are arguably one of the most important sources of food to the people of central and western desert regions of Australia. The raisin is high in minerals such as iron, potassium, zinc and selenium and able to be stored for several years which is important in the harsh conditions of outback Australia.
