Collection: CAROLINE WARD NAKAMARRA

Caroline Ward Nakamarra is a Pintupi artist from the Kiwirrkurra and Kintore region, out where the Northern Territory meets the Western Australian border. She comes from one of the founding families of the Western Desert art movement. Her grandfather, Timmy Payungka Tjapangati, was among the first generation of Papunya Tula painters, and her mother, Lorna Ward Napanangka, is a leading Pintupi artist in her own right. Caroline began painting for Papunya Tula in 2003.

She paints the rockhole and soakage sites of her family's country, working in fine white dotting on deep grounds and laying the country out from above, the way it is known and carried. Her paintings are purchased directly from the artist and sold with our gallery certificate of authenticity.
