Karen was born in the region of Utopia Region which is approximately 5000sq kilometers northeast of Alice Springs. There are several large and small Indigenous communities with a fluctuating population. Utopia is renowned worldwide for their artists.
This was created 15 years ago when Karen was in her early 20's.
She is the daughter of the renowned artist and senior custodian Lindsay Bird Mpetyane.
The daughter of the esteemed artist and senior custodian Lindsay Bird Mpetyane, Karen dedicates her art to portraying the stories surrounding women's dreaming, including body paint designs. Her work also features various bush tucker motifs and Alpar seed, which are collected and made into bush damper/bread.
Karen's artistic creations are a vibrant and unique reflection of her cultural heritage, incorporating diverse elements from her homeland, including iconography that communicates her dreaming narratives. Currently residing in Alice Springs with her family, Karen continues to contribute to the rich artistic legacy of Utopia.
