Jennifer is one of 4 children of Kevin Wirri Tjapaltjarri and Doris Abbott who were both artists. Both parents were influential figures to Jennifer and her siblings. Kevin painted in the water colour style of his skin relative Albert Namatjira whilst Doris painted with acrylic on canvas. Kevin sat on the board of the Tangentyere Council and in 1995 elected as an executive. He was also a member of the 4 Corners Council which consists of traditional law men who make rules for the Aboriginal people in the Central Australian region. Both Doris and Kevin were instrumental in the drive for their community to be alcohol free (dry community) and were successful.
Being surrounded by artists, it was natural for Jennifer to start painting. Unlike her famous brother Elton Wirri who is highly sought after for his water colours, Jennifer preferred to paint with acrylic on canvas like her mother. Her work is mainly traditional dot style which she portrays the various bush tucker found on her country with beautiful colour and intricacy.
Jennifer is married to Reinhold Inkamala. The Inkamala family are well known watercolour artists from Hermannsburg and his grandparents are the Pareroultja’s who are also a family of famous water colour artists from the Hermannsburg region. Reinhold’s artwork is beautiful and unique and is well received. Jennifer and Reinhold have a family of their own and reside in Alice Springs.
