Kunbry was born in Areyonga. Her family moved to live in a small community in Uluru (Ayres Rock) as a child. Her parents taught her to make spears, boomerangs and decorate artefacts such as bowls with pokerwork (decorating wood by burning a design into it). She also makes figurines by weaving treated leaves.
 
Her art is distinctive, and it evokes strong emotions through its symbolic elements.
