BENITA OLIVER

TITLE : BUSH TUCKER

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
44CM X 69CM
BENITA HAS SIGNED THE PAINTING

REF#BO93

Born: Unknown / Grew up in Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa)

This painting is about bush tucker that the women collect. You can see Witchety Grubs, Honey Ants and Bush banana and the implements needed to dig and gather the food.

Benita’s work is typical of the paintings seen from the artists of Santa Teresa who produce incredibly beautiful, precise dot artwork using bright colours. Benita’s bush tucker painting incorporates dot work with realistic imagery of the grubs, ants and bananas that are collected.

Benita started painting for the Keringke Art Community Centre in Santa Teresa in the late 1980’s. Benita then moved to the Community of Amoonguna which is 20km Southeast of Alice Spring off Ross Highway. The community consists of a fluctuating population of 250-300 people of Central and Eastern Arrernte.

This painting was purchased directly from Benita and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
