Born: 1965.  Wirliyajarrayi (Willowra), Northern Territory
Language: Warlpiri
Skin Name: Nakamarra
Dreaming’s: Bush Medicine, Bush Tucker (foods collected in her country), Bush Damper Seed, Women’s Stories, Cave Dreaming

Doreen Dixon Nakamarra comes from a strong family of Warlpiri artists, including her mother Nora Long Napanangka and her sister Janet Long Nakamarra. She lives and works between Willowra, Yuendumu and Alice Springs, staying closely connected to family and Country.

Her work reflects the stories passed down through generations, painted in her own distinct style. Doreen shifts her palette depending on the story—sometimes using bold, vibrant colours, and other times working in striking black and white.

Cave Dreaming represents an important site near Sandy Creek. The painting captures the landscape and story in a direct and grounded way, staying true to its origins.

This artwork has been sourced directly from the artist. A gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
