There are paintings that carry a story, and then there are paintings where the artist has written that story down themselves.

On the back of this canvas, in Glenda's own hand:

"This Dreaming is about a Dreaming that happened back year ago when our grandparents where little kids. The day was cloudy and stormy, sands blowing through the desert. That was giving sign to all the old people warning that something was going to happen that day. So one of the barn was going to bust. So it did happen that night."

It's a remarkable account, a childhood memory passed down through generations, of a day when the desert sky turned and the old people read what was coming. The storm, the blowing sand, the sign that something was about to break. And then it did.

The painting itself reflects that story in its palette and mood. Where Glenda's other works burn with deep reds and blues, this one settles into quieter, more atmospheric tones, muted terracotta's, soft grey-greens and a dappled, almost weathered background that suggests heat haze or dust in the air. Seven concentric circle sites are connected by dotted pathways and the characteristic wavy lines of flowing water or wind movement, mapping the country where the Dreaming took place.

Purchased directly from Glenda Campbell and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
