She is one of the famous seven Petyarre sister’s including Ada Bird, Jean, Kathleen, Myrtle and Nancy, Violet. Gloria is noted as one of the most famous artists to emerge from the Utopia region.
Gloria was one of the founding members of the Batik Movement in the 1970s then moving to acrylic on canvas. Her earlier works were of Awelye designs which are the designs painted across women’s top half of their bodies during ceremony. The iconic Bush Medicine Leaves Dreaming portrays the various stages of growth throughout the year of this important plant which have medicinal properties and has been used for generations by Gloria’s ancestors.

The gold acrylic paint Gloria used in this painting is just exquisite.
