IVAN PANKA

WATER COLOUR ON BOARD
60CM X 50CM

IVAN HAS SIGNED THE PAINTING.

REF#IP50

DOB: 1943-1999, Hermannsburg
Also known as: Ivan Pannka
Language: Luritja / Western Arrernte

Ivan was the son of Anthapa and Sandra Emitja. His brothers Claude and Nelson Pannka (Panka) were also painters. They grew up in Hermannsburg a Lutheran Mission Settlement west of Alice Springs in Central Australia. It was here in Hermannsburg he was inspired to paint by his famous uncle Albert Namatjira and other influential artists who were painting in the water colour style on board at the time. Ivan wasn’t a prolific artist but his works were important as he developed his own unique style to capture the desert landscape.

This painting was purchased directly from Ivan and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.

Authenticity

Every artwork is an original painting by the artist named - never a print or reproduction. Each work is researched and documented before listing, and its provenance is recorded and supplied with the sale.
