Born: 1973.  Utopia   Northern Territory
Known as: Janet Golder Ngwarai
Language: Anmatyerre
Dreaming’s: Bush Tucker, My Country and Awelye/Aweley
(Women’s ceremony/Body Paint designs)

Janet was born into an artistic family from Utopia. Her parents, Margaret Golder and Sammy Pitjara are artists, and she is the granddaughter of the famous artist Emily Kngwarreye. She married an artist, Ronnie Bird who is the son of the acclaimed artist; Ada Bird Pitjara (Petyarre).

Growing up watching family paint family to paint and learnt the skills and the dreaming’s she had been passed down.

Janet is a talented artist who has developed her own unique style to become one of the most sought-after artists whose works have been exhibited nationally and internationally.

In the early stages of Janet's artistic career, she began painting her Awelye and Bush Tucker dreaming. However, her primary focus has now shifted predominantly to her My Country Dreaming.

In 2019 the Coles group commissioned Janet to paint a large painting of her Dreaming: My Country. This was then made into two screen prints now adorning the front glass of their Coles store in Alice Springs. Just one of her many achievements.

Please note, the painting was folded over at the top and has slight crease mark. (See photos attached) When stretched the crease will be barely visible.

This painting was purchased directly from Janet and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
