Jeannie comes from a large family of artists. Her sisters Rosemary Petyarre, Evelyn Pultara and Anna Price Petyarre are all well-known artists including her brother Greeny Purvis Petyarre. She is first cousin to the famous Petyarre sisters Gloria, Nancy, Myrtle, Kathleen, Violet, Ada and Jean Petyarre. She is also niece to the famous Utopian artist Emily Kngwarreye.

Like many women from the Utopian region of her time, Jeannie started painting batik, in the 1980s. She then went on to use acrylic on canvas.

She is well known for her great sense of movement and colour depicting the leaves and seeds changing colours throughout the seasons.  Various leaves and seeds are predominately collected by the women for medicine and food from a variety of trees/shrubs for use all year round. The leaves and seeds were once vital to Jeannie and her ancestors and through her paintings these stories are passed down and celebrated.

Her works are represented in major collections including the National Gallery of Australian and the Holmes a Court Collection in Perth.
Sadly, Jeannie passed away on the 27th December 2022.
This painting was purchased directly from Jeannie and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
