Julie is from the Papunya Community which is 240km northwest of Alice Springs. There are approximately 420 residents who are mainly Luritja speaking people however other language groups include; Pintubi, Walpiri and Arrernte.

The community of Papunya is well known for their talented and sought-after artists.

Julie spends her time between Papunya and other communities including Alice Springs where her other family members reside.

This painting is her Claypan Swamp seen on her country. These are shallow temporary lakes that are formed after rainfall. The soil in these areas are hard and dense and lacking vegetation. When wet the soil becomes sticky due to the structure of the soil.
