June is an accomplished artist from the Utopian Community. She was raised in a traditional cultural setting by her parents who were both celebrated artists. Ada Bird Petyarre and Tommy Bird Mpetyane.

In the late 1970s June and her mother along with other women in the Utopian community were involved in making Silk batik designs. Her work is part of the famed Robert Holmes a Court Collection. In the 1988 the project titled ‘A Summer Project’ was introduced where artists were invited to experiment with acrylic on canvas. June along with her mother and extended family became immersed in the project.

June’s love for art saw her experiment with intricate designs and patterns found in traditional Utopian art. As she got older, June honed her artistic skills and began to experiment with new techniques. She became known for her use of vibrant colours and bold patterns, which she used to tell her dreamings.

Her work is recognised for its unique style and its ability to capture the spirit of her people and their traditions.

Her works have been widely exhibited Nationally and Internationally.

This painting was purchased directly from June and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
