Kathleen is one of Australia’s most prominent artists. Considered one of the Top 50 most Collectable Artists in Australia by the Australian Art Collector Magazine.

She is one of the affectionately named; ‘Petyarre Sisters’ which includes; Jean Petyarre, Ada Bird Petyarre, Gloria Petyarre, Nancy Petyarre, Violet Petyarre, Myrtle Petyarre who are all talented, sought-after indigenous artists.

Kathleen’s paintings are related to her ancestral country and the dreaming’s passed down to her including women’s hunting, gathering of bush seeds, emu, dingo, and Thorny Devil Lizard/Mountain Devil Lizard. Her sisters paintings of the Thorny Devil are related to the appearance of the lizard whereas Kathleen's paintings are related to the Lizards journey across her ancestoral lands.

Kathleen was also a prominent Aboriginal activist who helped claim the freehold title of Utopia to the traditional owners in 1979.

Sadly, Kathleen passed away in 2018.

In Aboriginal Culture, when a person is deceased they not use the person’s name and or photos (any digital images) are not to be used. Out of respect we do not have any images of Kathleen online. However, we have used her name as it would be very difficult to list the painting with no name attached.

This painting was purchased directly from Kathleen and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
