Kay is a Warlpiri woman who belongs to the Napurrula skin group. Skin names are given at birth by parents and the community. Napurrula is the female and Jupurrula is given to the males in her skin group which are all from the Western Desert Region.
 
The Warlpiri people are comprised of various skin groups that govern social interactions, marriages, land ownership, and other aspects of life. Kay’s arwork is inspired by the Dreaming’s passed down to her by her ancestors, which are closely related to the land that she belongs to.
 
This painting was purchased directly from Kay and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided.
