Born: 1928 - 2017.  Utopia, Northern Territory
Known as: Kudditji & Kuddtji
Language: Eastern Anmatyerre

Dreaming’s: My Country, Emu Dreaming, Men’s Ceremony

Kudditji is the younger brother of the late Emily Kame Kngwarreye.
He was a Senior Elder/Custodian of his people and their dreaming’s.

Kudditji began painting in the traditional ‘dot’ style and over time evolving into abstract works titled ‘My Country’. It was not well received initially, and he returned to painting in the traditional dot style. In the early 2000 he was again drawn to the abstract using dense paint with various bold and neutral colours to depict the ever-evolving landscape and sky which was welcomed by the art community.

The Art Collector Magazine nominated Kudditji as one of the 50 Most Collectable Artists.  His powerful artworks can be seen private collections and galleries world-wide. Sadly, Kudditji passed away in 2017. He will be remembered as being one of the most innovative Contemporary Indigenous Australian artists of his time.

In Aboriginal Culture, when a person is deceased they not use the person’s name and or photos (any digital images) are not to be used. Out of respect we do not have any images of Kudditji online. However, we have used his name as it would be very difficult to list the painting with no name attached.

This painting was purchased directly from Kuddijti and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.

Authenticity

Authenticity
Altyerre Aboriginal Art provides its customers with a profile of the artist for every piece of artwork sold. This profile records information that Altyerre Aboriginal Art has gathered on the artist and general information on the stories that the artist paints. Altyerre Aboriginal Art encourages its artists to sign each piece of artwork either with a signature or a cross (some older artists cannot write their name).

Certificate of Authenticity
An artist profile and information on the story being painted is also provided and wherever possible, a photo of the artist holding the painting is included if possible. The certificate is comprised of the following details about the painting:
