Her cousin Gloria Petyarre, a renowned artist, began instructing Margaret to paint at an early age when she wasn’t attending school in Alice Springs. Over the years Margaret has developed her own unique style as can be seen with her medicine leaves and spinifex grass where her flowing lines depict the plants blowing in the wind.  The women collect the leaves of a particular plant and is prepared to be used on wounds and sores and other medicinal leaves are boiled and consumed for coughs and colds. Her work is sought after by  for their great sense of movement and array of beautiful use of colour.
