MARIE RYDER NAPANGARDI - Bush Flower Designs

Marie Ryder Napangardi was born in 1966 at Santa Teresa (Ltyentye Apurte), a community nestled 80km southeast of Alice Springs in the heart of Eastern Arrernte country. She is the daughter of Theresa Ryder, one of Ltyentye Apurte's most accomplished and respected artists — a heritage that runs deep in Marie's work and in the way she approaches her craft.

Marie learned to paint at her mother's side, and over time found her own voice within that tradition. Her paintings draw from the rich world of women's ceremony and the land itself — the bush tucker gathered by women across generations, the songs and stories that accompany it, and the body paint designs (Awelye) that are central to women's spiritual life. She moves between Ltyentye Apurte and Utopia, remaining connected to both communities and the country that inspires her.

The artists of this region are celebrated internationally for the intricacy and beauty of their work, and Marie carries that reputation with quiet confidence.

This painting was purchased directly from Marie and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
