Language: Anmatyerre / Alyawarre
Dreaming’s: Awelye (women’s ceremony and body paint designs) & Bush Plum (Arnwetky)

Polly is an accomplished artist from the Utopia region. She is the sister to Lena Skinner Ngale (Ngale), Kathleen Ngale (Ngal) and Johnny Skinner who are also well-known artists from Utopia.

Polly began her career in art during the Batik movement in the 1970s like many of the Utopian artists around that period. She later progressed to Acrylic on Canvas.  She tells the stories of the Bush Plum transitioning, from the leaves, flowers and fruit and its importance to her ancestors.  Her body paint designs are associated with women’s ceremony (Awelye)and the painting of the women’s top half of their body.

Her works have been increasingly popular and have been exhibited locally and internationally.

Polly has established herself as one of the leading artists to emerge from Utopia with countless exhibitions whose works are sought after worldwide.

Polly's eyesight had deteriorated in the last few years and was almost blind before she recently passed away in 2022.

This painting was purchased directly from Polly and a gallery certificate of authenticity will be provided with the sale.
This painting can be hung vertically or horizontally.
