SILVIA HEFFERNAN
TITLE: BUSH TUCKER (Witchety Grub, Bush Tomato, Honey Ant)
SILVIA HAS SIGNED THE PAINTING AND A PHOTO WILL BE PROVIDED
REF#SH16
Born: Ltyentye Apurte, Santa Teresa. Northern Territory
Silvia Heffernan is from Ltyentye Apurte (Santa Teresa), a small and culturally rich community approximately 80 kilometres south-east of Alice Springs. This community is widely known for its artists and their beautifully intricate dot painting style—work that is both detailed and deeply connected to culture and Country.
Silvia’s paintings reflect this tradition, with fine, considered dot work that builds gentle movement across the canvas. Her use of colour is soft yet vibrant, bringing a contemporary feel while still honouring traditional storytelling.
Her work often centres around bush tucker and the gathering of food—an important part of everyday life, knowledge, and cultural practice. In this piece, Silvia shares elements such as witchetty grub, bush tomato and honey ant. These are represented through delicate patterning and symbolism, each form holding meaning and connection.
There is a quiet beauty in Silvia’s work. The detail invites you to slow down and look closer, revealing layers within layers. It’s the kind of painting that continues to give the more time you spend with it; calm, balanced, and deeply connected to place.
Purchased directly from the artist. It is signed, and a photo of Silvia with the painting will be provided, along with a certificate of authenticity.
